Santas look to stay healthy during holidays

BUENA PARK, Calif. But this year old Saint Nick is getting some new advice.

"Every Santa should have a bottle of the sanitizer around," Santa Art said.

These are tips that fit the times of the H1N1 virus.

The members of the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas got together at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park to learn how to stay healthy during this holiday season.

"Forty four percent of Santas I've surveyed say 15 times a day a child will sneeze or cough right in their face," Santa Tim said. "We want parents to know that if your child has a cold or sniffles, maybe you should keep them home for a day or two, let them recover so they don't bring everything to the mall."

While some Santas have asked to get the H1N1 vaccine ahead of others but one Santa said that its better to ask you doctor is the vaccine is needed.

These tips going out to nearly 2,000 Santas across the United States and Canada.

"We want to be healthy, want the chlidren to be happy and we don't want them to come to mall and heaven forbid find an empty chair," Santa Tim said.
