Off-duty deputy shoots man in East LA

EAST LOS ANGELES Investigators said the deputy intervened as his girlfriend was jumped by several women when she went to the bathroom.

Several men then confronted the deputy and the altercation spilled outside where the shooting took place.

One man was shot in the chest. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

So far police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

The name of the deputy has not been released.
