Arcadia school 'remixes' books and clothes

ARCADIA, Calif. Hugo Reid Elementary held its Second Annual Holiday Remixer Friday night.

Parents and kids used coupons to pick up clothing and books. They received the coupons for turning in clothing and accessories they no longer needed.

The swap saves families lots of money, and the school says it saw a need.

"This is the first time we've also had books donated and we've had parents who are teachers who have shopped for their classes, because of the budget cutbacks," said Jenny Tang of Hugo Reid Elementary.

Over 2,000 clothing items and 300 books were collected.

Those not remixed are being donated to the Apache Indian Nation in Arizona.
