New DVDs: 'District 9,' 'All About Steve'

LOS ANGELES In "(500) Days of Summer," Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel play Tom and Summer, co-workers who become much more involved with each other -- for 500 days anyway.

This anti-romance dramedy has started getting awards attention for Gordon-Levitt.

/*Sandra Bullock*/ and "The Hangover's" Bradley Cooper star in "All About Steve." Bullock plays an offbeat crossword puzzle constructor who thinks she's found her soul mate after that one blind date.

But Cooper's character is just not that into her and she really doesn't want to take "no" for an answer. Thomas Haden-Church co-stars, along with Beth Grant as Sandra's mom.

Grant's also in the comedy, "Extract."

Writer-director Mike Judge, who scored a sleeper hit with his 1999 movie, "Office Space," returns to the workplace with another comedy. In "Extract," a flavor-extracts factory owner, played by Jason Bateman, finds himself in a series of unfortunate incidents involving his employees.

Mila Kunis, Ben Affleck and Kristin Wiig also star in the movie.

If sci-fi is your thing there's the thriller, "District 9." It's about an alien space ship that mysteriously comes to hover over Johannesburg, South Africa. The alien passengers are permitted to live in a walled area of the city away from humans. Things turn ugly.

"It Might Get Loud" is a documentary on the electric guitar from the point of view of three rock musicians: the Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White.
