Bring the kids: Fullerton NYE party for families

FULLERTON, Calif. The lights are going up and main streets are being shut down as preparations are underway for the 19th Annual First Night Fullerton.

"There's a lot of music and a lot of entertainment going on so you don't' have to just hit the bars," said Todd Komori. "It's a lot of fun."

The event typically draws more than 15,000 people of all ages and there are always dozens of activities for kids.

"Bounce houses, an inflatable slide, velcro wall, bungee run," said Ashley Glass who works for the city. "There's gladiator jousting along with face painting and balloon art"

On stage there will also be four bands playing a variety of music.

"We'll have a Johnny Cash tribute band mixed with country music, a classic rock and modern rock cover bands, there's two of those, and the main stage will be a mix of roots and blues music by Los Fabulocos," said Glass.

Coming back for a second year is a synthetic ice rink. It's not cold, there's no ice, but it feels like the real thing.

"It's nice and relaxing they're out here and able to enjoy being outdoors and just enjoy a fun safe fairly inexpensive night for their families," said Glass.
