WILMINGTON, Calif. --A six-inch water main is to blame for a mess in Wilmington. The main, in the 1000 block of North Alameda Street, burst at about 1 a.m. Tuesday. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was forced to close the popular truck route to make repairs. Alameda Street is sometimes used by big-rig drivers to avoid traffic on the Harbor (110) Freeway.
The DWP says only a few customers were affected by the rupture and shut-off. Water service was restored by about 10 a.m.
