Industry Hills job fair draws thousands

January 15, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
Thousands of jobs were up for grabs at a huge job expo in Industry Hills on Friday. Many of the jobs are for construction work at the new NFL stadium project, and dozens of other companies will be there as well.Doors opened at 9 a.m. for the sold-out event, and job seekers wasted no time submitting resumes, hopeful the event would open doors.

"I've been out of work for five months. The economy is definitely taking a blow on jobs," said job seeker Alex Marrujo.

A huge draw to the event is a tie-in to a possible pro-football stadium in the city of Industry. Real estate developer Taylor Talt of Majestic Realty Company said they are just waiting on a green light from the NFL to begin construction. If and when a team is promised to L.A., ground breaking will begin, bringing more than 18,000 jobs to Southern California.

Aside from stadium possibilities, job seekers chose from more than 40 employer booths that together boasts some 20,000 job openings.
