Celebrities participate in charity auction

LOS ANGELES "I love diamonds and Mother Nature, but rain is never in fashion," said Associated Press fashion expert Natalie Rotman. "This umbrella is the accessory of the night."

Plenty of planning goes into the all-star fashion show that precedes the /*Golden Globe*/ ceremony. But the smartest couples of the night brought along the most important accessory -- an umbrella.

Along with that last minute addition another big trend skirted the very wet red carpet.

"There were so many ruffles on this carpet. Literally every girl that walked this red carpet had a ruffle," said Rotman. " /*Kate Hudson*/ wore a Marchesa. /*Sandra Bullock*/ looked amazing in that gorgeous Bottega Veneta. /*Zoe Saldana*/ wore a Louis Vuitton. And Anna Kendrick looked incredible in her gorgeous dress. I don't know if it's the Lady Gaga influence going on in fashion, but things are very unique right now and we're loving these new designs."

Another fashionable accessory was a ribbon worn by many stars to show support for the people of Haiti.

Actress /*Olivia Wilde*/ is going one step further.

"We're raising awareness and we are auctioning off my dress, Meryl Streep's dress, Jenna Fischer, Amy Poehler, Gerard Butler's tuxedo and more," said Wilde. "We want to raise money that will go directly to a local program for Haiti. It's my way of turning all this fashion madness into something positive."

The auction will take next week on eBay.
