'Stun gun bandit' arrested for robbing bank

LOS ANGELES

Police say Lester Evans matched the description of the bank robber. When they went to his apartment in the 400 block of East Seventh Street, they found evidence linking him to the Dec. 15 robbery of a boutique. During that robbery, the suspect shocked a clerk with a stun gun, earning him the name "stun gun bandit."

"Two robberies in two months, and a convicted bank robber to boot. We'll be looking closely to see if he's responsible for any other robberies," said LAPD detective Lt. Paul Vernon.

"Downtown businesses should be much safer with him behind bars," Vernon added.

Evans is on parole for bank robbery. He is being held without bail.
