Plan in works to make L.A. safer for cyclists

LOS ANGELES

The L.A. City Council instructed its attorneys to review the feasibility of an ordinance aimed at protecting bicyclists from being harassed.

It would prohibit such acts as throwing objects, deliberately passing with 3 feet and engaging in threatening or risky conduct.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck is expected to testify about this issue next month, and the city's attorney's office should make recommendations for an ordinance in March.
