2 brothers arrested for intimidating witness

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. Authorities arrested Wesley Vanderlinden, 24, and Julian Vanderlinden, 18, both brothers from Simi Valley, following an investigation involving Narcotics teams from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department and the Simi Valley Police Department, as well as the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Investigators say it all started on January 5, when Wesley Vanderlinden was arrested on suspicion of sales of Ecstasy. Just over 2 weeks later, Vanderlinden was released from custody after posting bail of $115,000.

Then, on January 26, investigators say both Wesley and Julian Venderlinden tracked down a witness in the Ecstasy case and assaulted and threatened to kill the witness if he or she testified.

A search warrant at the suspect's residence also yielded cash, three ounces of marijuana, and evidence of sales of marijuana, according to authorities.

Both suspects were arrested and booked for dissuading a witness by violence, criminal threats, burglary, and conspiracy. Julian Vanderlinden was also arrested for possession of marijuana for sale. Bail was set at $200,000 for both suspects and they will be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on January 29.
