Suspect arrested in Melrose area burglaries

LOS ANGELES He is identified as Dante Hoskins, 39, of Los Angeles.

On Friday, Hoskins was detained by a resident, allegedly for burglarizing a home in the 800 block of North Laurel Avenue.

Before officers arrived, Hoskins fled the scene. However, investigators say Hoskins left evidence at the scene that identified him.

Investigators say he's the same suspect who was arrested December 2009, for a number of residential burglaries.

Detectives say he targeted homes north of Melrose Avenue near Fairfax.

When they arrived at Hoskins' home, he ran away.

During an extensive search, which included a Metropolitan K-9 unit, Hoskins was found hiding in the neighborhood. Hoskins was arrested and charged with residential burglary, and his bail is set at $75,000.
