2 Pasadena schools honored for achievement

PASADENA, Calif. Hamilton Elementary and Willard Elementary were both cited by the State of California Title I Academic Achievement Awards.

The two schools offer accelerated achievement for all students.

To qualify for the award, the schools' socio-economically disadvantaged students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them for two consecutive years.

Hamilton and Willard were honored because all of its students made progress toward California's proficiency standards.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Willard Elementary School has won the award.

Hamilton Elementary was also named a National Blue Ribbon School last year.

The Title I Academic Achievement Award is part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
