2 robbery suspects die after pursuit crash

LOS ANGELES The incident started at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when a street vendor was robbed of Valentine's Day gift baskets and cash from a kiosk on Adams and San Pedro.

The victim identified the suspects' car to police. Officers found the car nearby, which sped away. The pursuit lasted about five blocks.

The suspects ended up losing control of their grey Honda and crashed into a parked vehicle on 27th Street near Central. Both suspects were thrown from the car, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses say that the vehicle was speeding through their neighborhood and it sounded like an explosion when the Honda slammed into the parked car.

"I ran out to the window to see what happened. I thought it was someone who crashed into my car. But when I went out, I found two bodies down there against a white truck," said Octavio Belaez.

The coroner's office said that the two men killed in the crash were 19-year-old Christian Juan Francisco and his cousin 18-year-old Charlie Francisco. Police say that some of their relatives came to the scene of the accident Sunday morning.The street vendor involved in the incident was not injured, and no police officers were injured in the crash.
