According to a new study, you have a greater chance of getting heart disease or a stroke if you live near a freeway.

Researchers followed nearly 1,500 people who live within 328 feet of Los Angeles area freeways. They measured the thickness of their carotid artery walls over a three-year period.

The gradual thickening was more than twice the normal amount. They found a connection to air pollution coming from the tailpipes of the nearby vehicles.
