'Crazy Heart' song hits chord with Academy

LOS ANGELES The men behind the theme song from "Crazy Heart," T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham, have already won the Critics' Choice Movie Award and the Golden Globe. The next stop is the Academy Awards.

"For me to be so young and have this opportunity right now is incredible. It's overwhelming," said Bingham.

While "Crazy Heart" star Jeff Bridges sings "The Weary Kind" in the movie, Bingham, a 28-year-old former bull rider, does the honor in the end credits.

"I heard his voice, and I love Ryan's voice. I think it's a unique, incredible voice, aged, you know? He sounds like he could be 70 years old," said Burnett.

"You don't necessarily have to fit into a genre or any kind of style. You know, you can incorporate all kinds of different things and make them your own and unique and just let the music speak for itself," said Bingham.

While Bridges plays a faded country music singer in the film, T-Bone says that in his opinion, their song isn't necessarily country.

"It's Texas music, you know, first of all, and I think of California as West Texas, you know, Far-West Texas," said Burnett.
