Fire breaks out at Oxnard recycling center

OXNARD Firefighters were called to the city's Del Norte recycling center at 2:21 am. They found heavy plumes of black smoke coming from the two story building.

The call was quickly upgraded to a full commecial structure response, bringing additional engines and firefighters to the scene.

Fire officials say crews brought the fire under control in about an hour. It continued to smolder in the huge piles of recyclable material. Recycling crews had to pull the smoldering material outside the building so firefighters could put out all the hot spots.

Fire crews were on the scene for about five hours. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
