SAN FRANCISCO --
The largest of a group of iconic San Francisco Victorians known as the Painted Ladies is up for sale. The Queen Anne Victorian is among seven homes across from Alamo Square that are also referred to collectively as Postcard Row and continue to be major tourist draws. Owner Michael Shannon is asking just under $4 million for the 4,600-square-foot house, which was last on the market 35 years ago when Shannon bought it for $65,000.
The 66-year-old Shannon says he has Parkinson's Disease and can no longer maintain the place or negotiate the stairs.
The home features gas lamps in the parlor and has been used in about 70 movies, ads and television shows, including in the opening montage of "Full House," a sitcom that aired in the 1980s and 90s and featured the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley.
