Riverside tests energy-producing 'Power Pipe'

RIVERSIDE, Calif. The device, called the "Power Pipe" is a turbine generator that's placed inside a water pipe. It produces energy as the water flows through the pipe.

Riverside is testing the Power Pipe near Linden Street and the 215 Freeway. The trial is designed to see how the device can be used in the future.

Two companies that manufacture the device say each turbine can generate enough electricity to power a household for a year.
