'Precious' star rejoices 1st Oscar nomination

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES Three weeks ago, Sidibe heard the best early wake-up call an actress can get. Her Best Actress nomination for her role in the film "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" has opened up a whole new world for this Hollywood newcomer.

"The greatest phone call that I got is that I have an agent. Can you imagine? I have an Oscar nomination before I had an agency, and so I feel having an agency means I have a team and everybody's going to be working for my next job. It's going to be awesome," laughed Sidibe.

Sidibe is being recognized for her work in a tough, raw role. She says she put all her emotions up on the screen, and left them there.

"I'm just not a very serious person and I didn't feel the need to carry that kind of baggage that 'Precious' has around with me throughout the day. So as soon as the director said cut, I was off flirting with PAs and eating cookies or gummy bears or something," said Sidibe.

The 26-year-old actress has been enjoying all the perks that come with this awards season, attention like meeting other stars and getting glammed up for a red carpet. She's been publically joking about a celebrity "dream date" for Oscar night, but sorry Justin Timberlake, she's taking her mother, who had complete confidence that her daughter would be invited to the big show.

"I think that she knew that I'd be been nominated. You know mothers are our biggest cheerleaders and I think that she knew, she just knew," said Sidibe. "She knew also that she'd be my date no matter what I said, no matter what crazy idea I had of bringing anyone else. She knew that she'd be my date."

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will take place Sunday, March 7. Watch ABC7 for the awards show and all of the red carpet and backstage action.
