MONROVIA, Calif. --
An apparent domestic dispute in Monrovia ended with an off-duty LAPD reserve officer shooting and killing his own son on Thursday.Authorities responded to the shooting in the 100 block of Andre Street at about 6 p.m. Investigators believe the incident is a case of self-defense. The son, described as a juvenile, went after his father, and the father had no choice but to shoot, authorities said.
"No arrest at this time. It's very early in the investigation," said Lt. Dave Coleman of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. "At this point, we really don't know."
No further information is available at this time. The victim's name has not been released.
The L.A. County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting.
