Smashing of levee to connect marsh, ocean

February 26, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
For the first time in 100 years wetlands in Huntington Beach will once again be connected to the ocean.Starting today, workers will begin an 18-month-long project to remove a levee at the Magnolia marsh. It's the third and final coastal marsh to be restored in the Huntington Beach area.

By re-connecting the wetlands to the ocean, water quality will be improved for fish and other wildlife who call the wetlands home.
