Study compares low carb, low fat diet success

Colorado researchers found that people who ate low carb and higher fat diets lost about the same amount of weight as those who followed a low fat plan.

But levels of ldl or bad cholesterol increased significantly in the low carb group.

Bad cholesterol fell in the low fat, higher carb group.

The low carb group also showed increases of free fatty acids. They make it difficult for the liver to store glucose, increasing sugar levels in the blood.
