Monday in Pacoima, team members spent much of the day packing out supplies and tools. Many of these same supplies have just returned from Haiti this week giving the teams only a matter of hour to resupply, restock, and repack.
USAR will be taking 55,000 pounds of tools and medical equipment in order to do around the clock search and rescue operations.
The specially trained urban search and rescue taskforce has been involved in several major disasters over the past decade, including New York City after 9-11 and New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.
Team members say it's all about saving lives and helping others.
Los Angeles County USAR is waiting for a plane to be available to take them to Chile and as soon as they hit the ground they will be ready jump into action.
