Police got a call at 7:50 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a white male adult in his late 50's suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was transported to a trauma center and is listed in critical condition.
His name has not been released.
Cypress police arrested Brent Christopher Wilcox, 35, on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
A handgun was recovered at the crime scene.
No one else was injured in the incident.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear.
Investigators say the shooting victim was apparently visiting Wilcox who lives at the Tiki Drive address.
