Major fire erupts in South L.A. industrial area

SOUTH LOS ANGELES L.A. City firefighters were called to a commercial building in an industrial area bordering South Los Angeles and Huntington Park shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Huge flames engulfed wooden pallets in a stockyard surrounding the commercial building, and power lines could be seen arcing in the fire.

It was not clear if the building was occupied or if there were surrounding evacuations.

High winds were a factor for firefighters as gusts reached approximately 25 mph.

The fire was extinguished 57 minutes by 153 city firefighters.
