I.E. man arrested for stealing horses

NUEVO, Calif. The animals were taken Wednesday from a ranch on the 22000 block of Hansen Avenue in Nuevo. The 19-year-old suspect allegedly cut a hole in the fence at the rear of the property and removed the animals from their barn.

The donkey was located Friday morning at a ranch on the 25000 block of Spring Street in Good Hope, where police arrested Paniagua. He then led investigators to Rancho Francisco, on the 6400 block of Lucretia Avenue in Mira Loma, where he allegedly sold the horses for $1,500. Investigators believe the horses were to be taken to Mexico.

Officials say they were able to locate Paniagua via a search warrant for the telephone he used when he originally contacted the victims inquiring about the horses on February 28.

The pregnant horses are in good condition.
