Victim's family urges end to gang violence

INGLEWOOD, Calif. The family of Crystal Rene Crawford, who was killed May 30, 2009, hosted a community concert Sunday.

In honor of Crystal and others killed by street and gang violence, they called the concert, "Stop the Violence, Start the Healing."

The 24-year-old preschool teacher was shot in the head as she sat in a car with three friends in Inglewood.

"We just need peace right now. We need healing. All this violence has to stop. My daughter had a future, it was taken away from her," said Wanda Crawford, Crystal's mother.

Crawford said organizers are hoping to raise money to pay for a billboard about unsolved murders like Crystal's.
