Man jailed on drug charges after cliff rescue

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. Laguna Beach Police say Giovanni Carlo Frizzle, 20, was arrested after the nighttime rescue on suspicion of being under the influence and of possessing cocaine.

Firefighters rappelled down a cliff some 75 to 100 feet and swam through dark surf to rescue Frizzle and two friends.

The three had walked down to Littleman's Cove Wednesday and became stranded when the peak tide came in around 10:30 p.m.

About 40 people were involved in the cliff rescue that took about two hours.

Two of the rescued were taken to the hospital to be treated for exposure.
