O.C. man on 'America's Most Wanted' convicted

SANTA ANA, Calif. Cuong Viet Nguyen, 29, was acquitted of attempted murder in the shooting of another man.

Nguyen and his friends got into a fight with a group of men inside the All Star Bar in Stanton on June 26, 2005. Nguyen's attorney says the fight started when someone bumped into Nguyen's sister. The victim, Tri Van Bui, was part of that group and was told by the bouncer to leave the bar.

Nguyen and his friend chased the victim and beat him with their belts. Then Nguyen shot Bui six times, killing him. He also shot another man in the crowd.

Nguyen disappeared after the shooting, but someone recognized him after he was featured on "America's Most Wanted." He was arrested in Phoenix in June, 2008.

Nguyen faces up to 80 years in prison or life sentence. He is due back in court May 7.
