Surprising pair sent home from 'Dancing'

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES Shannen Doherty is the first star heading home this season, leaving Pamela Anderson, who finished in the bottom two, to dance another day.

Doherty leaves having made a whole lot of new friends.

"You trying to make me cry? You're like Barbara Walters all of a sudden," Doherty said after the show. "I met some amazing people. I'll miss them. I'll miss Mark."

A knee injury would have sidelined Mark Ballas, her partner.

"There's no ACL or MCL damage, which is good. But it's looking like six weeks," said Ballas. "Three weeks at the minimum, six weeks maximum recovery."

Although she's the first to go, Doherty says she accomplished what she set out to do.

"And for two weeks, I got to see my dad smiling and super happy and really proud of me and, you know, that's all that really matters to me," said Shannen.

Viewer votes make all the difference in this competition. Kate Gosselin and Buzz Aldrin were at the bottom of the judges' leaderboard, but viewer votes saved them. Anderson was in the bottom two despite being in fourth place on the judges' leaderboard.

"I am so grateful to everybody who voted," said Gosselin. "Please continue to vote because we all know that my dancing isn't keeping me here."

The remaining 10 couples dance again Monday night. The dances next week are the quickstep, waltz and paso doble.
