"We were pretty much a couple. From day one we knew we pretty much felt something," said Cyrus. "But there was nothing official. We actually weren't official until after the film."
This explains Liam's answer to the start of the relationship. He reveals when they first kissed.
"It was before. On screen it's acting because you are in front of a camera," said Hemsworth.
Miley shares a slightly different sentiment on the couple's on-screen romance.
"I wasn't acting then. I still liked him and he liked me," said Miley.
In the movie, Cyrus plays a teenager forced to spend the summer with her father. She may be there against her will, but where there's a will, there's a potential love interest.
"We were together every day during the shooting," said Hemsworth. "It was hard not to become close while you are with someone everyday and all the time."
The two faced their biggest challenge when they had to swim with sharks in a tank.
"They hadn't fed the sharks for two days until we got into the water," said Miley. "They did that so they would swim around us."
"The Last Song" is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. The film is a romantic drama that also a lot to say about family.
"The Last Song" is rated PG and is in theaters now.
