Hundreds gather for Holocaust Remembrance Day

April 11, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Holocaust survivors joined hundreds of people in Pan Pacific Park Sunday to remember the genocide of 6 million Jews during World War II.

Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Remembrance Day, is an annual event that reminds people about the atrocities of genocide and war.

The event was attended by Holocaust survivors, who were forced into concentration camps by the Nazis.

"This is a special day especially for me. I am today 80 years old, and I was 13. So I made it. I'm here to say that. We have to speak and we have to give the message, and that's what I'm here for," said one Holocaust survivor who was in attendance.

Holocaust remembrance events took place throughout the Sunday in Southern California.
