Police nab downtown Nabisco Lofts burglar

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES Two Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies arrested Tommie Scott, 50, while following a lead that Scott possessed stolen Chinese coins.

Deputies say they found rare coins in his pocket along with a stolen mobile phone.

Scott is described as a prolific burglar who was on parole for burglary when the deputies arrested him for receiving stolen property.

"Scott was more of an office creeper than a cat burglar. He'd walk into open businesses and steal whatever he could get his hands on. In fact, he mistook the /*Nabisco Lofts*/ for business suites. So my initial warning to the public holds true. Lock your doors at home and lock up your stuff at work," said Lt. Paul Vernon, the head of the detective division for the downtown bureau.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
