Persons of interest sought in Van Nuys murder

VAN NUYS, Calif. LAPD Homicide detectives with the Van Nuys Division released the identity of the shooting victim Wednesday afternoon. She is 17-year-old Darlene Robles of North Hollywood.

Police say she was shot in the early morning of April 7. Then she was dropped off at the emergency room at a nearby hospital by three people who then fled in a late-model, red Toyota 4Runner

Police released surveillance video that shows the 4Runner pulling up to the emergency entrance at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Panorama City.

In the video, a female passenger can be seen getting out of the SUV and pushes a wheelchair to the driver's side. Then she walks back around with a male passenger who wheels the victim into the hospital and hands her off to a nurse. The two passengers then get into the vehicle and drive away.

Police want to talk to the two people seen in the video and the driver. They are considered persons of interest in the case.

Police said the victim had been shot once in the chest and died at the hospital shortly after she was dropped off.

Police say they do not have a motive for the shooting, but they believe the victim was shot in the Van Nuys area after receiving several calls that morning reporting shots fired.

"We believe this shooting may be related to shots fired in the area of the 13000 block of Moorpark Street, where a burglary from motor vehicles was occurring, and a gunshot went off," said LAPD Detective Peter Barba.

If you have information related to this case, you're asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).
