Woman drops rape lawsuit against Copperfield

LOS ANGELES Copperfield's attorney says he did not pay the woman, Lacey Carroll, to drop the case.

Carroll says the case was never about money, but that she wanted him held accountable.

The FBI and federal prosecutors spent more than two years investigating the case, but closed it this year without filing charges or explaining the decision.

She claims she was pulled from a Kennewick, Wash. audience and lured to his island in 2007, where she claims she was forced to perform sex acts.

In a separate case, Carroll has pleaded not guilty to a charge of making a false sexual assault claim against another man in Bellevue, Wash., late last year.
