Massive Van Nuys fire destroys 6 businesses

VAN NUYS, Calif. Authorities said the /*fire*/ began at about 12:30 a.m. and burned for more than two hours in the 6500 block of North Van Nuys Boulevard, causing at least part of the building to collapse.

It took 106 firefighters to knock down the blaze. No one was hurt, but there is a big cleanup job ahead for those businesses.

Witnesses say the tenants in that building included a pawn shop, a restaurant and a clothing store called Flame Fashions.

The fire damage is estimated to be $1,500,000. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
