However, once he pulled the car over, something went awry and the officer opened fire.
"At some point during the traffic stop, the officer feared for his safety. He fired his weapon at the suspect. The suspect was hit, transported to a local hospital where he died. A handgun was recovered from the suspect," said Lt. Dave Dolson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
No one else was hurt during the shooting, and the woman driving the car was taken into custody. Sheriff's homicide detectives are assisting the Culver City Police Department with the investigation.
