Toll violators get a break in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. Orange County's toll road agencies agreed to settle a lawsuit that challenged their methods of collecting and enforcing toll penalties.

The fine for first time violators will stay at $100. The penalty for a second violation has been lowered from $250 to $150. Third and subsequent violations have been lowered to $200 from $500.

The changes take place immediately. The new rates are a result of a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of drivers who said they were charged excessive penalties for toll violations.
