Bel Air gas station robbery suspect at large

May 20, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
A gunman who held up a Bel Air convenience store two months ago remains on the loose. Los Angeles Police Department officers say the man walked into a Union 76 gas station in Bel Air about 11:30 p.m. on March 19 where he confronted the clerk and asked for money. After the suspect took the money from the cash register, he ordered the employee to open another cash box and then struck the clerk in the back of his head with his handgun.

The gunman then demanded the clerk to open the store's safe. The employee told the gunman he did not have the combination. A short time later, the suspect left the store, grabbing four boxes of cigars on the way out.

The clerk suffered minor injuries. Police describe the gunman as an African American male with dark complexion and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap with the Raiders logo on the front, a black jacket, dark blue pants and dark shoes.

If you have any information on the robbery, call the LAPD at (310) 444-1520 or (877) LAPD-24-7.
