Pair of quakes hit near Calif.-Mexico border

CALEXICO, Calif. The first quake registered as a magnitude-4.9 near Calexico at 10:30 a.m. A magnitude-4.8 earthquake hit about 30 miles west at 10:33 near Ocotillo, Calif.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, both quakes were felt through much of San Diego and Imperial counties.

There have not been any reports of damage or injuries.

Saturday's earthquakes struck in the same area as the magnitude-7.2 quake that killed two people in Mexicali, Mexico, on April 4. The region has seen a surge in seismic activity since then.
