Missing Lake Forest woman found alive, well

LAKE FOREST, Calif. Salma Banu, also known as "Polly," was found just before 5 p.m. Thursday in a ditch at O'Neill Regional Park about two miles from where crews were searching.

She was transported to a local hospital. The sheriff's department has not released details of her condition.

Concern grew when she dropped off her children at their home in Lake Forest Wednesday afternoon. She told them she was going to the store and would be back in 30 minutes, but never returned.

Banu's 2000 four-door green Ford Excursion with her purse inside was found in Rancho Santa Margarita. Search teams then combed through the Oso Reservoir and other areas where Banu used to go hiking.

She was transported to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. The sheriff's department has not released details of her condition.
