IE church bus vandalism called hate crime

May 30, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Parishioners at an Inland Empire church arrived for services Sunday morning to find their church bus had been the target of what's being considered a hate crime. It happened at the Crosswinds Church in Moreno Valley.

Police say sometime overnight, suspects spray painted 666, upside down crosses and other hateful messages on the church bus.

The attack is a financial blow for the church as it comes just as church members were about to embark on a mission trip to New Mexico.

"Our financial situation isn't as it should be. Our church bus probably can't go on a mission trip as it is right now," said Roger Warren, an elder at the church.

Church officials say this is the second time the church bus has been vandalized in the past five months.
