Saturday, thousands turned out for the start of the two-day festival. It benefits such groups as Heal the Bay, the Surfrider Foundation and Inside the Outdoors.
World champion surfer Shaun Tomson and actor Sam Trammell from "True Blood" were just a few of the celebrities who caught some waves.
"I'm a surfer, and I'm out in the water all the time and I really see firsthand how dirty it is and how polluted," said Trammell.
People who don't want to surf can eat, drink, play volleyball, and make sandcastles at the event.
