Car hits, kills person walking along 405 Fwy

A man walking on the side of the northbound 405 Freeway near the Getty Center was struck and killed by a vehicle.

A man walking on the side of the northbound 405 Freeway was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Sepulveda Pass on Saturday.The collision took place around 2:30 a.m. just north of the Getty Center. All northbound lanes of the 405 were shut down while officers investigated the scene.

California Highway Patrol officials say they do not know why the victim was walking along the freeway, but his Toyota Tacoma was parked on the right shoulder of 405 North near the overpass above Sepulveda Boulevard near Getty Center.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities are trying to find a black Ford Mustang with a broken windshield.

One lane of northbound 405 was reopened at 6:16 a.m., and all lanes were reopened at 7:11 a.m.
