Doctors said she will recover, but she had to receive 60 stitches.
"I felt like something like grabbed my foot, but then it got really sharp and it wasn't letting go," Schlentz said. "I pulled away, and by then, they had already bitten me twice. And then I pulled it out to see what it was, and it was pretty bad. The ligament was spread out and you could see it."
Authorities have not said what type of shark attacked the teen.
Schlentz is expected to be on crutches for at least two weeks. Her mother said she may need plastic surgery after the wound completely heals.
