Residents in the area are urged to boil all water being used for drinking or food preparation for at least one minute, and then allow it to cool.
The order was issued as a precautionary measure in response to the failure of the pump, which is operated by the Golden Valley Municipal Water District. The pump has been repaired and the impacted well is being disinfected, according to the county.
Failing to disinfect water could lead to intestinal illnesses.
