2 injured in DUI hit-and-run in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. Witnesses say a driver ran a red light and hit two women in the crosswalk.

One of those victims was dragged along the road.

The driver apparently then stopped, opened her door and saw the victims, but then sped off.

A Good Samaritan followed the motorist and called police, who caught up with the hit-and-run suspect about a mile from the accident.

The victims, both from Valencia, were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Their names and conditions were unavailable but officials said their injuries were not life-threatening.

/*Long Beach*/ Police Department officials said the suspect, a 37-year-old Seal Beach woman driving a Land Rover, was booked on suspicion of felony /*hit-and-run*/ and drunken driving.
