Croc bites intoxicated man trying to pet it

BROOME, Australia According to police, the trouble started when Michael Newman was tossed out of a tavern for being drunk. After leaving the bar, Newman, for unknown reasons, decided to break into a nearby zoo.

Once inside, Newman climbed into an enclosure with a crocodile. The reason? He wanted to pet it.

"Well I'm thinking, if someone else can go up and hand-feed him, I can go up and pat him, but unfortunately they move so fast," he said.

The crocodile bit Newman on his right leg. Luckily, the bite wasn't too bad, and he was able to walk back to the pub for help.

Authorities are marveling that the croc released his prey; they say that usually doesn't happen.
