The boy was sitting in the parked car on Saturday while his mother was inside the post office. Officials said Bermudez reached into the car for the purse, and the boy tried to stop him.
Bermudez allegedly struggled with the boy and eventually got the purse, handing it off to Bailey. The pair then fled in a white Honda Civic.
Documents show Bermudez has a long criminal past, including possession of a deadly weapon and numerous burglary convictions. Bailey pled guilty to carrying a switch blade and knives, and both suspects have narcotics-related convictions.
